Hello, friends!
Welcome back to Happy Nifty Life.
Today, I’m back with another healthy food delivery review.
When I published my review of My Muscle Chef meal delivery service, many of you ordered it and loved it. But some of you emailed to ask about My Muscle Chef and how it compares to YouFoodz.
If you haven’t tried My Muscle Chef yet, what are you waiting for? Try it for yourself and get $20 OFF your first order using the discount code HNL20.
Although this review will cover the pros and cons of both My Muscle Chef and YouFoodz, I will present it in a different format to my previous reviews. Today, I will be letting you know (spoiler alert), why I chose to stay with My Muscle Chef instead of YouFoodz.
Here are 13 reasons why I chose My Muscle Chef over YouFoodz (and why I have been a loyal customer of My Muscle Chef for over 12 months).
1. Taste
Believe it or not, most people choose what to eat based on taste over any other factors, and that’s understandable. If you don’t enjoy the food, it’s harder to stick to the diet especially if you’re trying to lose weight.
Even if you just order meal delivery for convenience, you are likely to choose meals that taste great over meals that taste bland or artificial.
One thing that really stood out for our family was the superior flavors in My Muscle Chef meals. We have yet to try one dish we do not enjoy eating.
With YouFoodz, most of the meals (especially the soups) tasted as though they were made straight from the can. It tasted average if not bland and artificial. I was very disappointed.
2. Ease of ordering process
If there is one thing that frustrates me is not being able to easily navigate a website (and the menu, in this case) to order what I want quickly and without a hassle.
I understand YouFoodz offers a variety of dishes including sandwiches and breakfast, as well as ready to eat meals and meal kits. And this may be one of the reasons as to why navigating the website is not straightforward.
However, I personally would love it if the menu was a bit more organized and intuitive to use.
With My Muscle Chef, you basically have to click once (click the menu at the top), and you will see a navigation bar to help you choose the right type of meal plan for you. It works like a menu builder whereby you select a menu based on your preferences.
For example, you can select plant-based meals, low carb, protein type or snacks. It’s all there on one page and you can’t go wrong.
Speaking of ease of use, you can select the size of your food or the number of calories you want and filter the menu accordingly. Hello, convenience!
3. Low carb keto-friendly food
Any keto dieter or anyone trying to lose weight would appreciate My Muscle Chef’s low carb meals which contain fewer than 25g carbs per meal.
Not many meal delivery services offer low carb meals, so this is a huge plus for those of you who are on the ketogenic diet and you crave convenient meal delivery.
On the other hand, YouFoodz has its own weight loss meal plan which is called YouFoodz 70/30.
Yet another confusing section of the website, this appears to allow customers to order 70% of their meals from YouFoodz and have a “relaxed” meal plan 30% of the time (which you prepare yourself at home).
4. Quality ingredients
If healthy meal delivery is important to you as it is for us, then this is where you will really notice the difference between My Muscle Chef and YouFoodz (and similar companies).
I have a habit of reading the ingredient list on any packaged food. The harmful effects of flavor enhancers (including MSG and similar chemicals) is a reality that I choose to not ignore.
When I first ordered My Muscle Chef meals, their commitment to providing healthy fresh food was the first thing I noticed on their website.
The following is a statement from My Muscle Chef (foudn on their about page):
“Our high quality fuel is made by real chefs using fresh ingredients that are delivered daily. Our meals are made with grass fed beef and lamb, free range chicken, sustainably sourced fish, Australian grown vegetables and no added preservatives.”
That statement is what inspired me to order my first meal from My Muscle Chef. It aligns with our family’s goal to eat high-quality ingredients and fresh food. And when I received the meals, I checked the ingredient list to see if they live up to their claims. And they did.
The photo below is a snapshot of the ingredient list for one of My Muscle Chef’s popular meals, Slow Cooked Lamb Shanks With Sweet Potato Mash & Greens. There is not one ingredient I can’t pronounce or any unfamiliar additive or “flavoring”.

On the other hand, here is a snapshot of the ingredient list of a similar meal by YouFoodz, slow cooked lamb shanks. Their lamb shanks contain colors, emulsifier, thickeners, soy, and a flavor enhancer (635).

As a general rule of thumb, we don’t opt for any packaged food with an ingredient list containing unnecessary flavor enhancers and other additives.
This is the number one reason why I would never order from YouFoodz again.
With My Muscle Chef, it feels amazing to know that I am not accessing convenient meals while compromising healthy eating. Instead, I am feeding my family the right macronutrients and all meals are made with real ingredients.
This is what makes every cent worth it when purchasing from My Muscle Chef.
Remember, if it’s your first time ordering from My Muscle Chef, you can get $20 OFF by using the discount code HNL20.

5. Pricing
Initially, I actually thought My Muscle Chef might be more expensive than YouFoodz considering the quality of ingredients. However, My Muscle Chef works out to be cheaper especially once you order in bulk.
YouFoodz meals cost an average of $9.95 per meal. My Muscle Chef costs anywhere between $8.55 and $10.15. But when you order in bulk, pricing is reduced to as low as $8.12 per meal with My Muscle Chef! This is a huge bonus.
Since My Muscle Chef meals can be frozen, there is no problem with ordering extra meals to keep in the freezer. It will save you time and money.
6. Cuisine variety
Just as important as cost, taste, and quality, is variety! Another standout of My Muscle Chef is that they provide a range of high-quality cuisines including Korean, Indian, modern Australian, Mexican, Middle Eastern and much more.
My Muscle Chef also offers vegetarian meals (as well as low carb meals as previously mentioned). We absolutely love that there is food for every taste and dietary need.
YouFoodz offers Thai, Italian and modern Australian cuisines. This might not be an issue for most people but if you are someone who enjoys tasting a variety of ethnic cuisines, you will enjoy My Muscle Chef.
And that’s a wrap!
I hope it gave you a few helpful tips and if you have had experience with My Muscle Chef, YouFoodz or any similar meal delivery companies would love to hear your opinion as well.
